A thatched roof from Makkum for your new-build home
Are you building a new house, or considering a thatched roof for an existing one? Thatched roofs create a pleasant atmosphere. They also insulate well, and thanks to developments in recent decades, they've become very affordable, including insurance. A great choice! Gebr. Roosma Rietdekkers will build your new thatched roof for you, whether you prefer a traditional roof or a screw roof.

A traditional or screw roof
There are essentially two ways to install a thatched roof: the traditional method or the screw roof method. We install all types of roofs at an angle of more than 45º, so water drains away quickly. This extends the roof's lifespan.
A traditional thatched roof. With a traditional thatched roof, the thatch is attached to a framework of slats and beams. The thatch remains visible on the inside, adding to the ambiance.
A screw roof. This type of roof has an additional base beneath the thatch. The thatch is screwed to this with stainless steel wire. Various types of board can be used, including chipboard V 131 or Isobouw Reed .
Underlayment foil
In many cases, we recommend using underlayment membrane. This generally offers the following advantages:
It improves your energy label
It reduces noise pollution
It reduces heat loss from your home
It improves the general air tightness of the building
It eliminates the risk of cold bridges
