A thatched roof in Friesland
Thatched roofs are an iconic addition to any home. This applies to villas as well as small detached houses. Even a garden shed or barn can benefit from a thatched roof. Today, two types of thatched roofs are most common: the traditional roof and the screw roof. Gebr. Roosma installs both types of roofs for you and advises you on the materials to use where necessary.
The screw roof
With the closed construction, the thatch is screwed to a sealed substrate using stainless steel screws. If you choose this technique, we are happy to advise you on whether or not to use underlayment.

An underlayment foil offers these advantages:
It improves your energy label
It reduces noise pollution
It reduces heat loss in your home
It improves the general air tightness of the building
It eliminates the risk of cold bridges and draughts
